This scheme was our third major project carried out for the Unite Group, the largest student accommodation provider in the United Kingdom and includes a £17million tower providing 562 new students bedrooms for Southampton’s growing student population.  Accommodation included a doctor’s surgery, lounges, laundry, entrance hall and wardens offices.  The building creates a major landmark within the city and is helping to regenerate the local area.  To successfully complete the design we engaged with the City Council and local design groups to refine the detailing of the tower.

The project was designed as part of a framework agreement with Unite.  The building incorporated fast track prefabricated technologies to achieve a 12 month construction period, including whole room pods.  Facades are a combination of low maintenance rainscreen systems including terracotta, STO through coloured render and curtain walling. Robothams worked closely with the Main Contractor Warings to complete the detailed design.
