Orbit’s Independent Living scheme on Queensway, Leamington Spa was been designed to create real community spirit.  Aimed at over-55’s the project consists of 178 one and two bed apartments were organised around a range of shared facilities including a restaurant, cafe, hairdressing salon and IT suite. As part of Orbit’s programme to create a network of Extra Care communities the residents can add personal care as and when they require it in the privacy of their apartments giving them high levels of autonomy.

Robothams were appointed to complete the detailed design and supported Deeley Construction during the execution of the project.  The scheme targeted achieving BREEAM Very Good and Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4 ratings.  The design also incorporates a range of energy efficient measures including CHP plant and photovoltaic panels.

The overall scheme  now includes 74 affordable houses and apartment for Waterloo Homes housing association on the site adjacent design by Robothams.
