New Clubhouse

The Worcestershire Golf Club, Malvern Wells

The existing clubhouse for this picturesque golf course was a converted farm house which was rapidly reaching the end of its useful lifespan.  The Club’s committee took the view that a new clubhouse would be a good investment and would provide the opportunity to create additional corporate business.  On the basis of this decision the club ran a design competition involving practices with specialist sports and golf experience.  Having won the commission we developed the design through planning and into working drawings and site support.  The design process involved consultation with all members of the club and lead to a scheme embraced by all stakeholders.

The design developed a rural vernacular façade and a substantial pitched roof to blend with the environment in this area of ‘outstanding natural beauty’.  The new building incorporated changing rooms, bars, dining rooms, offices and meeting rooms linked by dramatic hallways and atria.  The building was delivered using a design and building procurement route.
