In late 2018 we were appointed to prepare the detailed design of a contemporary individual house in the conservation area of Edgbaston. Set in the leafy suburb established by the Calthorpe Estate the new dwelling combines modern design with a palette of traditional materials. The scheme had been designed by another architect and planning consent had been granted by Birmingham City Council prior to our appointment.

The house will be constructed using a combination of traditional load bearing construction and steel framing to create panoramic glazed screens at the front and rear of the house.

Working closely with the client and other members of the design team a package of detailed design drawings were prepared ready for an issue for tender in Spring 2019 culminating in the selection of Kavannagh Construction and commencement on site in November.

Robothams are providing support to project manager PMP Consultants during the construction phase with an anticipated completion in Autumn 2020.
