Robothams Architects were appointed to develop the detailed design of 229 student bed spaces at a site close to the University of Nottingham in Beeston. Appointed from RIBA stage 4 onwards by Hydrogen (Beeston) and then the Cassidy Group. The scheme combined studio flats, townhouses and cluster flats within the site of a former preparatory school.

Split across two sites the heart of the site is a grade 2 listed villa extended and refurbished to create the former school. It is surrounded by a mature landscape with protected trees and lawns. A range of more contemporary school buildings were demolished to make way for the high quality scheme.

We developed the scheme through detailed design identifying opportunities for additional bedrooms and re-working the refurbishment of the listed building and gaining planning consent for the alterations.

Main contractor J Tomlinson Ltd were appointed to construct and refurbish the buildings, completing in Summer 2019.
