The Brampton building represents the practice’s first large scale experience of MMC as a means of delivering accommodation for schools.  Appointed by main contractor Kier the practice worked alongside Integra, manufacturer of the modules to create a high quality teaching building within the school’s existing campus.

The 34 modular units were built off-site before making their way through the narrow country lanes of Kidderminster to the school site, where they were finished on-site. They were lifted into place by a 200-ton crane (the weight equivalent of 16 double-decker buses) and are now 12 modern new classrooms where the students study arts and humanities surrounded by 27 acres of countryside.

Kier Operations Manager Craig Garrood said: “This achievement is a testament to our commitment to excellence in the construction industry. The modules were wrapped in facing brickwork and Rockpanel cladding to create a building that is sensitive to its context and articulated into smaller parts to break down the mass of the new block. Robothams managed the process of gaining planning consent and supported Kier up to handover in 2023.
