Care home in Stonnall receives planning consent

Planning consent has been granted by Walsall Council for a  62 bed residential care home on the Chester Road in Stonnall, for client Restful Homes. The scheme  is located adjacent to an 80 bed home developed previously for the same operator and designed by Robothams.

The design responds to the existing topography of the site and the external appearance of the adjacent development.

The scheme is anticipated on site in 2022.

Planning consent granted at the Green, Solihull

As part of the wider development of the ‘Green’ adjacent to the A34 Stratford Road, the latest residential care home scheme for Restful Homes Group has been approved by SMBC. It will deliver 86 care bedrooms in a T shaped form that sits within a master plan developed by M7 Real Estate, to the high standards achieved across all the RHG sites.

The four storey, contemporary form is articulated with a variety of materials to create a varied frontage on this key route into Birmingham.  Open space for residents is provided around the perimeter of the site as well as at roof level within the established landscape of the site.

Application submitted for Restful Homes in Coleshill

An application has been submitted to North Warwickshire Borough Council for a new 91 bedroom care home in Coleshill. The project for Restful Homes is on the site of the town’s former police station and located prominently on the A446. It sympathetically responds to the site’s context and topography, creating a well manner, contemporary design with a vernacular palette of materials.

The building is set in landscaped grounds making excellent use of the existing trees to form a sensory garden to the rear and a green buffer to the adjacent roads. The external appearance is contemporary using a palette of traditional materials to appeal to the changing tastes of those seeking high quality residential care. A start on site is anticipated later in 2013.

Growth in Residential Care Home Market

2011 and 2012 have seen a significant increase in the number of commissions from the Care Home market.

Since completion of Homewood in Leamington in 2009 for Methodist Homes for the Aged and Earlplace this sector has grown into an important specialist area for the practice. The challenge of designing attractive residential and social space for the elderly and catering for those with various forms dementia, has played to our strengths, including careful design and attention to detail.

Having completed Avon Court earlier in 2012, construction work has been progressing on Avalon Court in Coventry and Darwin Court in Lichfield, residential care homes for the Restful Homes Group, a family run organisation with sites across the south of England and the Midlands. These schemes in addition to providing comfortable, spacious individual rooms have also placed a focus on communal spaces which cater for a range of residents and care needs.
