Planning consent granted for Chipping Campden development

Chipping Campden has had a cricket club since 1867 moving to its current site in 1971 when the current pavilion was constructed. With a thriving membership the club is now looking to replace the existing clubhouse with a modern facility which will serve the community for the next 50 years. The practice were appointed by the club in 2016 to develop proposals which combined the construction of a new pavilion with residential development of a portion of the site.

Working within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty the practice was involved in the process of public consultation and engagement with the planning authority to gain a planning consent in July.

The scheme incorporates three new detached dwellings designed to reflect the context and overlook the cricket pitches.

New entrance building completes, Beaufort Cooperative Academy

A significant part of our design for Beaufort Cooperative Academy in Gloucester has now been handed over to the school by contractor, E G Carter. The new entrance building consolidates arrival for visitors and administration functions into a prominent location on the approach to the school support a wider objective to enhance the image of the school.

The new entrance was opened at an event on the 27th March 2018, by Ed Mayo, Secretary General of Cooperatives UK. Further phases of refurbishment and a new build teaching building are due to be delivered during the summer ready for the start of the new academic year.

Planning consent granted at the Green, Solihull

As part of the wider development of the ‘Green’ adjacent to the A34 Stratford Road, the latest residential care home scheme for Restful Homes Group has been approved by SMBC. It will deliver 86 care bedrooms in a T shaped form that sits within a master plan developed by M7 Real Estate, to the high standards achieved across all the RHG sites.

The four storey, contemporary form is articulated with a variety of materials to create a varied frontage on this key route into Birmingham. Open space for residents is provided around the perimeter of the site as well as at roof level within the established landscape of the site.

Planning approval granted for boarding house upgrade in Bromsgrove

Planning approval has been granted for the extension and refurbishment of Elmshurst boarding house at Bromsgrove School. The scheme also includes the expansion of the main school car park accessed from the Worcester Road.

In addition to proposals to upgrade and enhance the existing board house’s envelope the interior will be substantially refurbished with the addition of en-suite bathrooms and alterations made to the communal social space.

The alterations to the landscaped car parking adds 64 spaces and extends the strategy of enhancing the schools grounds with hard and soft landscape improvements.

The refurbishment of Elmshurst follows that of the Webber building which is due for completion in May 2018, work being undertaken by Shaylor Group.

Planning application approved for Agritech Project

A planning application has been submitted to and approved by West Oxfordshire District Council for Abingdon & Witney College’s new Agritech Innovation and Skills Centre at their Common Leys campus near Hailey. The building will provide a highly serviced environment to support courses and research relating to livestock husbandry. It combines theory teaching spaces and a livestock area capable of supporting the latest technology and providing wifi access to portable devices across the campus.

The design provides a space that allows for the care of the animals according to the latest working practices, combined with modern design which uses an ‘agricultural’ portfolio of materials which will reflect the farming context. In providing the new facility the College will also construct a new covered riding school to replace the existing one lost as part of the scheme.

The scheme will be completed for early 2019 by the design team which includes PMP Consultants, Couch Consulting, Halligan Associates and the Richards Partnership.
